- Warm 1 ½ cups of fresh apple cider in a medium saucepan over medium heat, stirring occasionally for about 5 minutes.
- Stir in ¼ cup of honey until fully dissolved, about 1-2 minutes.
- Add a ½-inch piece of freshly grated ginger and 2 cinnamon sticks, simmer for about 5 minutes.
- Optionally add a pinch of cayenne pepper, stir gently, and simmer for another minute.
- Remove from heat, strain into mugs, stir in 4 ounces of bourbon and the juice of half a lemon.
- Garnish with additional cinnamon sticks and slices of apple or lemon.
