Step-by-Step Instructions for Valentine’s Day Puppy Chow
- Split 6 cups of Chex cereal into two medium bowls, placing 3 cups in each bowl.
- In a large bowl, combine 3/4 cup of strawberry cake mix with 3/4 cup of powdered sugar and whisk until well blended.
- Melt 1 cup of red candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl, heating in 30-second intervals until smooth.
- Pour the melted red candy over one bowl of Chex cereal and stir to coat evenly.
- Transfer the coated cereal into a gallon zip lock bag with 3/4 cup of the cake mixture, seal tightly, and shake vigorously.
- Spread the Puppy Chow onto parchment paper to cool for about 10-15 minutes.
- Melt 1 cup of white candy melts following the same method as the red candy.
- Pour the melted white candy over the second bowl of Chex cereal and stir gently to coat.
- Place the white coated cereal in another zip lock bag with the remaining cake mixture. Seal, shake, and spread on parchment paper to cool.
- Once both mixtures have cooled, combine them in a large bowl with 1 cup of Valentine M&M's and 2 tablespoons of sprinkles.
- Gently mix all ingredients to combine, then serve in bowls or bag it for sharing.
