Ingredients
  

For the Meatballs
  • 1 lb Ground Beef Can substitute with turkey or chicken
  • 1 cup Breadcrumbs Gluten-free breadcrumbs for GF version
  • 1 Egg Use aquafaba for a vegan alternative
  • 2 stalks Green Onions Finely chopped, can substitute with chives or shallots
  • 2 cloves Garlic Minced; garlic powder can be used for a milder taste
  • 2 tbsp Soy Sauce Can substitute with tamari for gluten-free
  • 1 tbsp Sesame Oil Olive oil can be used in a pinch
  • 1 tbsp Grated Ginger Ground ginger is a good dried alternative
  • 1 tbsp Brown Sugar Maple syrup can be a sweet substitute
For the BBQ Sauce
  • 2 tbsp Soy Sauce Refer to meatballs section for alternatives
  • 2 tbsp Honey Maple syrup or agave can be used
  • 1 tbsp Rice Vinegar Apple cider vinegar is a good substitution
  • 1 tbsp Sesame Oil Refer to meatballs section for ideas
  • 2 tbsp Gochujang Adjust to taste, or use chili paste
  • 1 tbsp Cornstarch Arrowroot powder can be substituted
  • 2 tbsp Water
For the Spicy Mayo Dip
  • 1/2 cup Mayonnaise Greek yogurt can provide a healthier twist
  • 1 tbsp Sriracha Adjust to taste or use a milder sauce
  • 1 tbsp Lime Juice Lemon juice is a good substitute

Method
 

Preparation
  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, breadcrumbs, egg, green onions, garlic, soy sauce, sesame oil, ginger, and brown sugar. Mix gently until blended.
  3. Roll the mixture into 1-inch meatballs and place them on the prepared baking sheet, leaving space between each.
  4. Bake for 18-20 minutes until golden brown and cooked through, reaching an internal temperature of 160°F (71°C).
  5. In a saucepan, combine BBQ sauce ingredients and heat over medium heat until simmering. Mix cornstarch with water to thicken the sauce and add it gradually.
  6. In a small bowl, mix mayonnaise, sriracha, and lime juice to create the spicy mayo dip.
  7. Once baked, toss meatballs in the BBQ sauce until evenly coated.
  8. Serve warm with spicy mayo dip on the side.

Notes
