Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Begin by slicing the chicken breasts in half horizontally to create cutlets, seasoning both sides with salt and pepper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine buttermilk and hot sauce, then submerge the chicken cutlets and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together flour, cornstarch, cayenne, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper, then dredge the marinated chicken.
  4. Heat frying oil in a deep skillet to 350°F (175°C) and fry chicken cutlets for about 3 minutes per side until golden brown.
  5. In a small bowl, combine hot frying oil with brown sugar and spices. Once chicken is cooked, baste with the spicy sauce.
  6. Toast burger buns, spread mayonnaise, assemble with chicken, coleslaw, and pickles.
