Step-by-Step Instructions
- In a small bowl, combine the active dry yeast with half of the warm water (about 110°F) and let it foam for 5 minutes. In a mixing bowl, combine melted unsalted butter, granulated sugar, kosher salt, and the remaining warm water, followed by the egg yolk and the foamy yeast mixture. Gradually add all-purpose flour until just combined, watching for a soft dough to form.
- Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish with a bit of melted butter. Transfer the dough into the dish, spreading it evenly with your hands. Cover the dish with plastic wrap and let it rise in a warm area for about 15 minutes. Meanwhile, preheat your oven to 350°F.
- Once the dough has risen, carefully uncover it and brush the surface with more melted butter. Sprinkle a generous layer of mozzarella and Parmesan cheese on top. Then, season with garlic salt and dried oregano.
- Place the baking dish in the preheated oven and bake for 28 to 31 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and the edges are golden brown. Once done, remove the dish from the oven and let the cheese sticks cool for about 10 minutes before slicing and serving with marinara sauce.
