Step-by-Step Instructions for Spicy Southwest Turkey Burgers
- Begin by preheating your grill or stovetop grill pan to medium-high heat, approximately 375°F. This ensures your burgers will receive a beautiful sear while locking in juiciness.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground turkey, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, and finely chopped red onion. Pour in the olive oil and mix everything well.
- Sprinkle chili powder, ground cumin, garlic powder, paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and black pepper into the bowl. Use your hands to mix the spices thoroughly into the turkey blend.
- Crack the egg into the seasoned turkey mixture and combine everything until well blended.
- Divide the turkey mixture into four equal portions and gently shape them into patties about 3/4 inch thick.
- Place the formed patties on the preheated grill. Grill them for about 5-6 minutes on each side.
- While the turkey patties are grilling, slice your whole wheat hamburger buns in half and toast them on the grill for 1-2 minutes.
- To assemble your burgers, spread salsa on the bottom half of each toasted bun, place a turkey patty on top, add sliced avocado and sprinkle with cilantro, and cap it off with the top half of the bun.
- Serve the assembled Spicy Southwest Turkey Burgers immediately with your favorite side dishes.

Notes
Use a meat thermometer to ensure your turkey burgers reach an internal temperature of 165°F. Avoid overmixing for a tender patty. Allow the burger mixture to rest in the fridge for 15-30 minutes for better flavor and handling.
