For the Ribs
  • 3 pounds Pork Ribs Baby back ribs preferred, spare ribs can be used
  • 1 tablespoon Olive Oil Optional for browning
For the Seasoning
  • 1 tablespoon Garlic Powder Adjust quantity to taste
  • 1 tablespoon Onion Powder Adjust quantity as preferred
  • 1 tablespoon Smoked Paprika Chili powder can be used for added heat
  • 1 teaspoon Black Pepper
For the Sauce
  • 2 cups Sweet Baby Ray’s BBQ Sauce Can experiment with other brands or homemade

Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Remove the membrane from the back of the pork ribs for tenderness.
  2. Combine garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, and black pepper in a bowl.
  3. Rub the seasoning mix generously on the ribs.
  4. Heat olive oil in a skillet and sear the ribs for 2-3 minutes on each side if browning.
  5. Cut the ribs into sections if necessary and arrange them upright in the crock pot.
  6. Pour half of the Sweet Baby Ray's BBQ sauce over the ribs.
  7. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or on high for 4-5 hours.
  8. Carefully remove the ribs after cooking and brush with additional BBQ sauce.
  9. Broil the ribs for 2-3 minutes until the sauce caramelizes.

Notes

For tender ribs, remove the membrane and ensure each rib is coated with seasoning. Broiling at the end gives a nice finish.
