Method
 

Preparation Steps
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your cake pans with butter.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Cream together the softened butter, vegetable oil, and granulated sugar using an electric mixer.
  4. Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then mix in the vanilla extract.
  5. Gradually alternate adding the milk and sour cream with the dry ingredients.
  6. Divide the batter into six bowls and color each with different food coloring.
  7. Pour each colored batter into the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes.
  8. Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks.
  9. Cut out centers from four of the layers to create space for marshmallows.
  10. Fill the cut centers with Lucky Charms and stack the layers.
  11. Frost the cake and decorate with additional Lucky Charms and food coloring.
