Preparation Steps
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease your cake pans with butter.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, and salt.
- Cream together the softened butter, vegetable oil, and granulated sugar using an electric mixer.
- Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Then mix in the vanilla extract.
- Gradually alternate adding the milk and sour cream with the dry ingredients.
- Divide the batter into six bowls and color each with different food coloring.
- Pour each colored batter into the prepared pans and bake for 25-30 minutes.
- Cool the cakes in the pans for 10 minutes, then transfer to wire racks.
- Cut out centers from four of the layers to create space for marshmallows.
- Fill the cut centers with Lucky Charms and stack the layers.
- Frost the cake and decorate with additional Lucky Charms and food coloring.
