Method

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. In a large pitcher, combine one bottle of fruity red wine, two cups of apple cider, and one cup of pomegranate juice. Stir gently with a wooden spoon until well mixed. Let the mixture sit to marry the flavors while you prepare the fruits.
  2. Slice two oranges and two apples, and add them to the pitcher with the wine mixture. Stir gently to ensure the fruit is evenly distributed.
  3. Add two cinnamon sticks and a couple of star anise pods to the pitcher. Stir again gently for even distribution.
  4. Cover the pitcher and place it in the refrigerator for at least one hour, or up to four hours for maximum infusion.
  5. Before serving, add one cup of club soda or ginger ale to the pitcher and stir gently.
  6. Pour the sangria into glasses filled with ice and garnish with fresh cranberries and mint leaves.
