Preparation Steps
- Cut brioche or challah into 1-inch thick slices and arrange them in a greased baking dish.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, heavy cream, sugar, vanilla extract, cinnamon, and salt until fully combined.
- Pour custard evenly over bread slices, gently pressing down to soak. Cover and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, or overnight.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and custard is set.
- Remove from oven, sprinkle sugar over the top and caramelize using a kitchen torch until crisp.
- Cool slightly, then serve garnished with berries, powdered sugar, and maple syrup.
