Step-by-Step Instructions for Hibiscus Lemon Bars
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and gather all ingredients and tools.
  2. In a mixing bowl, beat together 0.5 cup softened butter, 1 cup granulated sugar, and 1 tablespoon vanilla bean paste on medium speed for 3-4 minutes.
  3. Gradually add 1.5 cups all-purpose flour and a pinch of salt, mixing just until combined.
  4. Press the dough firmly into the bottom of a greased baking pan and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
  5. Bake the crust in the preheated oven for about 15 minutes until lightly golden brown.
  6. While the crust bakes, steep 1 cup dried hibiscus flowers in 0.5 cup fresh lemon juice for 15 minutes, then strain out the flowers.
  7. Whisk together 3 eggs and 1 cup granulated sugar until frothy, then add the hibiscus-infused lemon juice and blend well.
