Preparation Steps
  1. Wash your chosen fruits like strawberries or grapes under cool water and pat them dry thoroughly.
  2. Skewer the fruits onto bamboo sticks, leaving enough space for even coverage.
  3. In a small pot, combine 2 cups of sugar with 1 cup of water, heat over medium-high, stirring gently.
  4. Let it boil until it reaches 300°F; this should take 10-15 minutes.
  5. Prepare an ice bath with a bowl of ice cubes and cold water.
  6. Once syrup reaches 300°F, dip the skewered fruits in the syrup and let excess drip off.
  7. Immediately place dipped skewers into the ice bath for about 30 seconds.
  8. Remove and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet to set completely.
  9. Serve tanghulu immediately and enjoy the delightful crunch.
