Preparation Steps
- Wash your chosen fruits like strawberries or grapes under cool water and pat them dry thoroughly.
- Skewer the fruits onto bamboo sticks, leaving enough space for even coverage.
- In a small pot, combine 2 cups of sugar with 1 cup of water, heat over medium-high, stirring gently.
- Let it boil until it reaches 300°F; this should take 10-15 minutes.
- Prepare an ice bath with a bowl of ice cubes and cold water.
- Once syrup reaches 300°F, dip the skewered fruits in the syrup and let excess drip off.
- Immediately place dipped skewers into the ice bath for about 30 seconds.
- Remove and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet to set completely.
- Serve tanghulu immediately and enjoy the delightful crunch.
