- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and heat a large skillet over medium heat.
- Add the ground beef to the skillet, breaking it apart, and cook for 6-8 minutes until browned. Drain excess fat.
- In the same skillet, add chopped onion and minced garlic; sauté for 3-4 minutes until translucent.
- Add sliced mushrooms and cook for another 5-7 minutes until softened.
- Pour in the cream of mushroom soup and chosen seasonings; stir to combine and heat through.
- Transfer the mixture to a greased casserole dish and top with cheese if desired.
- Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 25-30 minutes until bubbly.
- Let rest for 5 minutes before serving with crusty bread or a fresh side salad.
