- Pour 2 cups of almond milk into a medium saucepan and place over medium heat, stirring occasionally until steaming, about 5-7 minutes.
- Once milk is heated, whisk in 1/4 cup of unsweetened cocoa powder until smooth.
- Stir in 1 tablespoon of maple syrup or honey to sweeten, adjusting to taste.
- Add 1/2 teaspoon of ground turmeric, 1/2 teaspoon of ground cinnamon, 1/4 teaspoon of ground ginger, and a pinch of ground cardamom, whisking continuously.
- Sprinkle in a pinch of black pepper and whisk again.
- Heat gently for another 2-3 minutes, stirring continuously.
- Pour into mugs and top with whipped cream or marshmallows if desired.
