- Preheat your oven to 250°F (120°C).
- In a medium bowl, combine 8 ounces of softened cream cheese, ½ cup of powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons of milk, and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
- Whisk together 4 large eggs, 1 cup of milk, the zest of 1 orange (if using), 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract, 1 tablespoon of honey, and a pinch of kosher salt.
- Spread cream cheese filling between slices of challah bread, pressing edges to seal.
- Dip each stuffed slice into the egg batter, allowing to soak for 1-2 minutes on each side.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat with 1 tablespoon of unsalted butter and 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil. Cook each soaked slice for 3-4 minutes per side until golden brown.
- Dredge cooked French toast in the cinnamon sugar mixture immediately after cooking.
