Step‑by‑Step Instructions
  1. In a medium saucepan, combine frozen pitted cherries, granulated sugar, water, and a pinch of salt. Heat over medium heat, mashing the cherries as they soften. Cook for about 10 minutes until it thickens slightly.
  2. Once thickened, strain the syrup using a fine mesh strainer to separate liquid from solids, pressing to extract as much liquid as possible.
  3. Stir in fresh lemon juice, vanilla extract, and butter extract into the warm syrup until combined, then set aside to cool.
  4. Brew 2 cups of unsweetened black tea according to package instructions. Allow it to cool to room temperature before refrigerating to chill.
  5. After tea is chilled, mix in 4 tablespoons of cherry syrup, adjusting sweetness if necessary. Stir well to combine.
