  • 0.25 cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce avoid substitution unless avoiding soy
  • 2 tablespoons rice wine vinegar can swap for apple cider vinegar
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder adjust to taste
Skewer Ingredients
  • 4 pieces hot dogs regular or specialty
  • 1 cup pineapple fresh or canned
  • 1 medium red bell pepper can swap with other peppers
  • 1 medium green bell pepper zucchini or mushrooms can be alternatives
  • 1 medium red onion white onion or shallots can be used

Method
 

Preparation Instructions
  1. In a medium bowl, combine 1 cup of barbecue sauce, ¼ cup of ketchup, 2 tablespoons of soy sauce, 2 tablespoons of rice wine vinegar, and 1 teaspoon of chili powder. Whisk until the ingredients are well-blended and set aside.
  2. Set your grill to medium heat, aiming for 350°F (175°C). Allow to preheat for about 10–15 minutes.
  3. Assemble skewers by alternating pieces of hot dogs, pineapple, bell peppers, and red onion on soaked skewers. Use 2–3 pieces of each ingredient per skewer.
  4. Place skewers on the hot grill and generously baste with BBQ sauce. Grill for about 10–12 minutes, turning occasionally until the hot dogs are charred and vegetables are tender.
  5. Remove from grill, drizzle with remaining BBQ sauce, and serve warm.
