- Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, baking soda, sugar, salt, and spices.
- Cut in the cold butter until it resembles coarse crumbs, then gently mix in the grated apple.
- Stir in the chilled buttermilk until just combined.
- Knead the dough lightly on a floured surface.
- Shape the dough into an oval, fold it over itself seven times.
- Cut into 3-4 inch circles and place on a baking sheet.
- Bake for about 20 minutes or until golden brown.
- Melt the unsalted butter for the glaze and combine with honey and salt.
