Method
 

Step-by-Step Instructions
  1. Cream together salted butter and granulated sugar until light and fluffy, then beat in vanilla, almond extract, and egg.
  2. Gradually mix in flour, baking powder, and salt until dough comes together.
  3. Roll out dough to 1/4 to 3/8 inches thick and cut out star shapes. Place on parchment-lined baking sheet.
  4. Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C), bake stars for 8 to 12 minutes until edges are pale. Cool completely on wire rack.
  5. Prepare frosting by mixing butter and powdered sugar, add heavy cream and flavorings until smooth. Mix in food coloring.
  6. Melt white candy melts in intervals, pour into star molds, sprinkle with crystal sprinkles, and let cool.
  7. Pipe frosting on largest star, stack smaller stars on top, using frosting for stability. Top with molded star and chill to set.
